Let's talk about rigging for that North Shore of Long Island specialty, worm trolling. Dating back to the 1800's, rich men living along the Gold Coast have been worm trolling along the beaches in front of their mansions. Unlike wire line trolling, worm trolling is shallow water fishing. Get yourself a set of medium-weight baitcaster outfits, and load them up with 15 pound test line. Tie a size 2/0 Baitholder hook directly to the end of the line. The idea is to place a trolled sandworm as close to the stones lining the beach as possible-hopefully into the hungry maw of a waiting cow striper. An aluminum boat is best for the job, because you'll be getting close, sometimes too close, to the rocks.
